The Scriptures are just full of stories about God: how God has acted through the ages, and especially how God has acted in Christ Jesus to save us. We also discover how Jesus' life was a witness to God's love. We can look at Jesus' words and life in the Scriptures to find out more about living out God's love and reign. And think about it, we will find out how other faithful women and men were called and sent by God to take part in God's ongoing love story and how they responded.
How about if we went to the Scriptures with excitement and anticipation, expecting God to speak? When we go, let's pray and ask God to speak to us. Below are some questions we can ask of the Scriptures. We may not be able to use all of them at any given time, but we'll be able to use some. The first set of questions, "In General," are questions we might just throw out and search to find the answers. The second set of questions, "More Specifically," are questions we can take to a particular passage.
