When we started talking about witnessing or sharing in God's story, we looked at Peter giving public witness to Jesus' ministry of love, death, and resurrection, as well as Peter's own commission. In  Acts 3:1-11, we see Peter sharing the story of God's love through action. Peter and John witnessed with what they had: the power to set a man free to live a fuller life. Their lack of money did not stop them from engaging with this lame man.

What did Peter and John not have?

What did Peter and John have?

How do we see God acting in this story? Who is God using?

How and where do we see God’s love and faithfulness in this story?

In whose name did Peter and John act? Why?

How did the unnamed man react?

Who did the unnamed man see in this action?

How do we understand ourselves in the light of Peter and John's actions?

How do we understand our society in the light of this passage?

Have you encountered anything similar to this at school, church, in the community, in the world at large?

How do we live our stories, what do we say and do, in response to this story of the healing of the lame man?

How do we express the love that we have received?

What can we commit to do between now and the next time we meet?

Further on in chapter 3, Peter and John gave verbal witness to explain their actions. In chapter 4 of Acts, we find that everyone was not happy with Peter's and John's action. There were unintended consequences to sharing in God's story.
